What are you on about?

Welcome to the skint blueprint! Never did I think I would ever be telling people how to spend their money, or give tips on how to save money, scundered! Well, at the end of the day I’m a student so technically I’m allowed to be broke, but you don’t have to be in this cost of living crisis malarkey! This is my wee blog about Belfast and all the class wee things it has to offer! You wouldn't be long getting frostbit now that it costs a leg and arm to even breathe (many thanks to our gover....nvm) so I am here to help save you some coin and make sure your guddies aren't scrappers. I'll be bringing hints and tips for places to shop, eat, drink (probably the one thing I don't need to tell Irish people how to do) and also show you fun and quirky places that you didn't even know existed, at the expense of me dragging myself out of my house away from my cave.

I can't lie to you, I gave myself a good oul pat on the back for coming up with the name 'The Skint Blueprint' because to be quite honest being skint is my only character trait, but how else would I know where to get the best fifteens ever.

So, a wee bit about me. I am 25 years old, currently in my second year studying Marketing at UUB, (took a few too many gap years but I just scraped getting into gen-z so I'm still relevant). This is only the introduction and the mature student / culchie in me is really showing but bare with me. I have been living in Belfast for the most part of 4 years now, but I am from a wee place far far away called Castlederg, some may say 'The Derg Sir'. When I tell people this, 9/10 times they look at me like I have two heads, so I have learned to quickly say it's near Omagh when I tell them and that avoids any potential confusion. I love the people here and the nightlife but if I had a pound for every time a Translink Metro bus has driven past me whilst flailing and flapping my hands trying to stop the bus, I'd probably be a miliionare. Right, Ill stop nattering. I am buzzing to see where this wee page goes and hope that I dont cringe you out too much! Uni assignments are undoubtedly tedious at times so I had to spice it up somehow! I hope you stay with me, keep her lit!

Quare bargain!

This is probably going to be my most exciting post yet! I had the absolute pleasure of being apart of the old/new Primark VIP opening in Belfast! The tragic fire that The Bank Buildings endured a few years ago back in 2019 was devastating and I'm so excited for it to be back!  Over the past four years a "complex" restoration project has been undertaken at the 237-year-old building, and it's now ready to reopen to the public (ITV, 2022).  They have honeslty done such a great job at getting it back up and running, and its bigger and better than ever! So well done to everyone involved, its fab!!  Anyone who is from or lives here knows that The Bank Buildings is such a monumental element of Belfast and I know we have all missed going for a cheeky wee shopping spree to get our fluffy socks and  cosy jammies! I have fond memories before I moved to Belfast of going to Primark every christmas and be absolutley buzzing to get my hands on whatever I could and as my mum would s...

Late night thoughts 💭

Let’s normalise not always being on top of everything at all times! And I’m not just on about consistently living on a budget however it seems to have a big stereotype of being less than if you are living on a budget or living pay check to pay check.  But I just mean who actually has their **** together at all times?  Social media can make us think that we have to be constantly productive an always on the ball when really it’s not wee buns all the time, like social media makes it out to be.  Let’s normalise:  • Wearing an outfit more than once • Just having a wee gurn - you’ll feel better I promise • Asking for help • Saying no - something I’m not very good at but a work in progress!  I’m not trying to romanticise living on a budget but I think that we shouldn’t feel ashamed or embarrassed if things aren’t always rainbows and sunshines, do you know what I mean but?
